The main statue inside the desert monastery was surrounded by “Protect Buddhism” banners. I sketched the scene while the monk chanted and rhythmically pounded the dhyangro ceremonial drum. On this page I noted the dictionary-based translation of an inscription at the monastery spring: “ Spring effases as soon as it hear the voice of votaries pray to Buddha. Even now when visitors yell in front of the spring it flows. It is a very world rare."
